Red-Tailed Black Cockatoos are a joy to paint and watch in real time, being both highly intelligent and having a stunning colour combination. The setting is a real place, which I like to go to when seeking new material. It is only a 40 minute drive west from my place, though the landscape changes dramatically, as large mountains dominate the horizon. It is a peaceful place, and that's what I've captured in my painting.
