Whiting beach is a little gem on the jewel that is Sydney Harbour. My dog Snow loves to play on this beach. In summer it is a Mecca for locals and tourists alike, either lounging on the sand or conducting festivities upon a boat moored off shore. Like Streeton and many artists since then, Whiting Beach and its neighbouring beaches and bays is a feast for the eye. The changes in tide, season and light provides an endless vista of sight and sound. A small pocket of paradise in sight of the CBD. This plein air painting tries to capture not only the magic of the harbour, but the rough tangle of indigenous and introduced plants. The wharf with its rigid lines provides a contrast to the infinite flux and morphing of the natural world.
