This is a plein air painting of the rocks and approaching tide at Curlew's Bay. You can tell that from the sand that impregnated itself in the paint. I tried to capture a sense of Streeton's paintings of the area and the tradition of Japanese prints with their sharp foreshortening. I endeavored to keep the brush work loose and thick so as not to sacrifice the spontaneity of changing tides and light.
