Artwork Description

Watercolour on paper

Signed on the front.

This Kookaburra came about when a friend of mine had taken some photos of a resident Kookaburra that would land on her fence every day. I loved that this kookaburra enjoyed her company as much as she enjoyed its company. I then acquired some new paints professional watercolour paints and just had to paint this.
If you are a bird lover like me, you will love this painting, or both of them in a special space. Every time you walk past them, they will bring you joy. I know they do that for me!
All those blues and purples with a yellow green contrast make such a statement.

This art work is created using professional watercolours on 300gsm watercolour paper and is 20cm square. It would be ideally paired with another watercolour painting I did called 'Comfy Kookaburra'.
These two artworks are shown together in the In Situ photos on this post, to give you an idea of what I mean.

Six Eucalypt leaves are in an upright position in the centre of the paper. The background is completely matte black. The leaves have shades of orange, ochre, green, blue and pink. They have various marks on them too. An upright branch of Eucalypt leaves, 6 in total. This is negative painting and so the leaves are colourful in greens, oranges, pinks and blues with some dots on them. The background is a solid matte black. A colourful Cockatoo is in the centre of the paper with her head tilted slightly to the right. She is very colourful with blues, yellows and pinks. Behind her is black lined leaves providing contrast to the colour. The galah is placed slightly to the right and has it's head turned facing the left. The colurs used are red, pink, blue and yellow. It is created in an abstract representational way. Thre are leaves drawn in black pen behind it.
