This painting has been 12 months in the making - I got stuck many times along the way - for all sorts of reasons. The Otway Region is home to many lakes and waterways. One of the most frequented is Lake Colac. In this painting I have the Warrion Hills in the background, the lake full of Red fin fish, the yacht club, the rowing club, the Botanic Gardens Cafe, the flowering rhododendron shrubs, the brick footpath bearing the names of many local people & businesses and one possum :) representing the community of possums who inhabit the beautiful drive thru Botanic Gardens. Everyone has been waiting so long for the lake to fill - and the one thing that will signify it's 'all good' is when the lake is full enough and the white sails of yachts can be seen skimming across the lake again.
