Living all my life in Australia I have been influenced by our wonderful light and the bright and bold colours that are found everywhere from our coast to the outback and of course our beautiful opals. This painting of this oversized opal allows me to show not only the depth of colour, the range of colours, but also the overlaying of the colours that arise during the development of the opal. It is contrasted by the dark grey of the background, with each corner showing just a touch of one of a colours that appears in the opal. This piece shows the play of the colours that seem to move with changing light.
