Artwork Description

What I have tried to convey through this Graphite pencil and Ink pen artwork is the playful yet devious nature inside all of us. At first glance, the girl will seem that she is looking out of a mirror (reinforced by the lighting across her face and the vine borders around her) and that she is pulling silly faces to herself. A closer look will reveal the underlying more devious nature of her actions (reinforced by the diverted eyes, vines like hands creeping towards her, and many eyeballs looking in different directions projecting misdirection). The nature of the butterfly flowers further perplexes the viewer; the flower is supposedly representing a thing of nature and life with a contrasting element of dead butterfly wings - once again misleading the viewer.

I invite everyone to make their own interpretation
