Donovan Christie’s work focuses on capturing moments in time, snapshots from day to day life that we so often breeze past and take for granted. Much like the establishments and buildings the self taught artist paints, the Parklands of Adelaide are at risk of corporation and construction capitalizing on the land. This painting highlights a corner of our city which is generally only seen as a thoroughfare. Donovan thoughtfully captures Whitmore Square at dusk, emitting its beauty against the cities rapidly rising skyline.
“I feel the Adelaide Parklands are not only literally the lungs of our city, but also the heart. Without this beautiful greenery breaking up the landscape, the city will be left baron and cold. We must protect and preserve this precious land at all costs.” – Donovan Christie
