I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, married an Australian and moved to Sydney Australia in 1979. We have since lived in all eastern states, now in Far North Queensland.
I have always been interested in art, but it didn’t occur to me that I could become an artist myself, until I retired , not only from working life but also from my lifelong passion, horses.
I have explored several mediums, Watercolour, soft pastels, acrylics and oil, I enjoy them all, so many ways to express myself.
I work mainly with Oil and Cold Wax medium at the moment, but when I get inspired to something in watercolour or Acrylic, I’ll work with those mediums.
Cold Wax, mainly beeswax, has been used as a medium for centuries in many forms, it is beginning to show up again these days, with a higher percentage of cold wax medium to oil than earlier days. I like moving the oil and wax on the board or canvas with silicone tools, and other items, I never use a brush with this medium.
I favour bold colours and anything to do with nature, mostly trees and landscapes right now, I find the bark of trees is so interesting and varied, so many colours and textures. My inspiration is the Australian landscapes, from deserts to tropical rainforests.
For me Creating Art is a continuing journey, you become absorbed in your work and you never know where your ideas will take you, it’s a wonderful enriching journey.
