Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This scene comes from a trip on the road called Thunderbolts Way which leads north out of the Hunter towards New England. Travelling on the bridge over this river, I had to stop to take the scene in. I was taken in by the secret private corner created by gums and other flora on one side, and flat river bank on the other. The river stones that defined the front of this bank draw the eye to the corner of the river where it turns away from view and runs into shadows. The second thing that caught my attention was the spill of sunlight on the yellow hills to the top left of the work.
