"Relic" is the oil-rendition of a flaxen chestnut Arabian. Painted in a wide colour pallete, the painting is a surprising study of colours in a horse: the realisation that a chestnut horse is not brown, but rather a vivid passel of anything from red, to yellow, gold, to purple, pink and blue. The background, appropriately, mirrors this unexpected rainbow palette. Details are painstakingly invested into the hooves, eyes and joints, appreciating the shape and form of the incredible anatomy of the horse. Ideal to juxtapose a modern space, or to join a menagerie of lively works as a dynamic addition.
An original painting from the artist's equine suite. With the highest level of craftsmanship, Ella Thrupp's horses are painted through a process of layering and blending. With a combination of putting paint straight onto the canvas and pre-mixing, Ella is able to achieve a vibrant image with depth and substance. The paintings are incredibly time intensive and detail oriented, from an expert study of equine anatomy in an homage to the old masters of equine art, reminiscient of the styles of Stubbs, Degas and Muybridge.
