This painting is a part of an abstract series that I am currently working on that is inspired by Australian native plants and flowers. I really enjoy simplifying images when I paint, looking at overall shapes and patterns that are formed.
I wanted to play with different shades green, with the cool tones of mint green, contrasting with lime and the earthy green tones of the background. I am also exploring mark making with intentional larger light dots around the edges of the blossoms, and watermelon dots and lines in the centre. Whilst the light fragile lines of the gold blossoms, add a level of delicacy and detail to the painting.
