This painting is a part of an abstract series that I am currently working on that is inspired by Australian native plants and flowers. I really enjoy simplifying images when I paint, looking at overall shapes, patterns that are formed. I wanted to play with layers in this painting; the earthy green hues of the background, large black shapes, and the chunky lines of green and mustard contrasting with the light fragile lines of the gold blossoms. And of course the large splashes of pink, they give it the extra pop of colour.
