Oh how I love Australian natives! I have been working on a series of still life paintings, which I am quite fond of. It combines my love of plants and pretty patterned-vases. I particularly love mid century modern vases; the patterns, the colours and the gorgeous shapes.
Colour is central to all my work, as I focus on choosing a limited colour palette before I begin to paint. I have fallen in love with this beautiful gun metal blue background, which features in quite a few of my up-coming works. My obsession with pink is pretty strong as well, and can been seen in many of my paintings. I particularly like the little pops of pink on the deep burgundy banksia and the strip of the pink at the bottom, with contrasts really nicely against the blues of the background and vase.
