Artwork Description

A misty forest; an old twisted tree wrinkled with the weight of its boughs; a red avalanche; an all consuming tidal wave. These are some of the symbols that I used to describe my then and ongoing battles with mental health in particular urges of self harm and suicidality...there is a far off hope which is yet to be defined; a weary spine tired of holding on against the raging red earth and the constant stretch upwards to the light; as a self harmer red is a powerful and overwhelmingly rush that also brings devastation; while the tidal wave completely unbalances the piece and leaves many unanswered questions and gaps in this piece. At the time this was drawn I was clinging to the red line drowning in the wave.
