My artwork 'Stand Strong, Always' was inspired by my favourite statue, the 'Fearless Girl', located in New York City.
The young girl stands defiantly in front of the ominous, bulky figure of the charging bull. She is positioned with her hands on her hips and her chin up high to display bravery and strength in the face of danger.
The statue represents the resiliency of Women and sends a strong message about workplace gender diversity. The plaque below the statue reads: "Know the power of women in leadership. SHE makes a difference".
I have endeavoured to demonstrate the same message in my artwork and I've accentuated the sense of resilience by replacing the New York City background with a dark storm rolling in.
The young girl stands strong despite all the obstacles and dangers in her path, she's doesn't look for reasons why she might fail, instead she is self assured and confident that she will prevail.
I believe this is an important message for all our young women today, to believe in themselves and Stand Strong, Always!
