Artwork Description

Prismacolor and Copic markers and pencils on 220 gsm acid free paper.

This is the fourth illustration in a series of 4 called A Year In Japan.

I love comic book style illustrations and animation so wanted to create an artwork in a similar style. I love Studio Ghibli films and also wanted to capture a scene of everyday life in Japan.

I wanted to create an image that had a large section dominated by a tree with vibrant Autumn leaves to really showcase the season. Autumn leaves are a beautiful aspect of the Japanese landscape.

I didn't use a ruler for any of the lines as I wanted to give it less of a realism/photographic look and more hand drawn.
