Limited edition print of my "Under the Cherry Blossoms" artwork. This was the third illustration I created for my "Year in Japan" series of 12. It represents Spring.

This is a large print, signed, titled and numbered 2/50. The dimensions are for the size of the image. There is also a white border for framing. For this print I have used a high quality, textured paper. The paper colour is slightly off white and more in keeping with the paper used for the original. You can see the texture of the paper in the photos.

I love comic book style illustrations and animation so wanted to create an artwork in a similar style. I love Studio Ghibli films and also wanted to capture a scene of everyday life in Japan.

Even though this image is for Spring, I wanted to set it at twilight, showing the season through the cherry blossoms. The image features my lone figure, who appears in each work, walking away from the viewer.

I didn't use a ruler for any of the lines as I wanted to give it less of a realism/photographic look and more hand drawn.
