This is the first artwork for my second series "A Night in Japan". I will be having an exhibition of this series later this year, which is why the original is not currently for sale. The original was created using Copic markers and coloured pencil. The work depicts a young woman in Tokyo taking a break from work at the restaurant behind her. She is watching a young man who is walking up the street. A chef from the restaurant is also outside. He is watching her watching the young man. The series I'm creating captures fleeting moments in time such as this one, with each scene set on the same night in Tokyo, yet featuring different people in different settings.
This is a large, unframed, limited edition print. It is titled and signed. The edition number is 2/50. The colours of the print are almost identical to the original.
The dimensions are for the size of the image. There is a 2 inch border around the image for framing.
I love comic book style illustrations and animation so wanted to create an artwork in a similar style. I love Studio Ghibli films and also wanted to capture an everyday scene in Japan. I didn't use a ruler for any of the lines as I wanted to give it less of a realism/photographic look and more hand drawn.
