I was born and raised in South Africa and migrated to New Zealand in 2009. In 2014 I moved to Geelong, Victoria where I work as an Emergency Department nurse and study Civil Engineering at Deakin University. I am a self-taught artist, having converted my garage into a small studio where I can retreat, reenergise and create. Since as long as I can remember I have loved art and creating pieces to share with friends and family. In the past year I have spent a lot more time on my art, mastering new techniques and moving from acrylics to oil paints. I have found that oil paints allow me to express my interpretation of a scene as vividly as I have felt it and I am loving learning and experimenting with this medium.

I have an endless curiosity for the world we live in and draw inspiration from my life, my studies and the beautiful countries that I have called home. I enjoy painting with bold contrasting colours that vividly portray landscapes and skies as well as using gentle pastel hues to create abstract soulful pieces.

There is always something on the go in my little garage studio, so follow me on Instagram at 'evelyn.ket' to check it out.
