I like the contrasting characteristics of the built and natural environments in the image of swimming pools; it brings in a sensibility of design by the human hand that contrasts with the natural, organic life of trees and plants. This is one of a series of studies of the aesthetics of swimming pools. Added to the natural phenomena of light, colour, reflection and movement of water are the industrial tropes of sharp angles, opposing textures and spatial, geometric composition.
