Medium

Scratchboard Art is like drawing with a knife. The board consists of a base layer of Masonite covered by a layer of white clay, then topped with a final layer of black ink. Sharp knives such as an "x-acto" are used to scrape away the black ink to reveal the white clay underneath.

Description

What cat doesn't enjoy the sun? This little piece is sure to be the 'purrfect addition for an empty corner in any room or a great gift for a cat loving friend.

I love working on scratchboard as it enables me to capture the realism and depth of my animal subjects on a level even greater than any other medium I have tried. It's great for creating realistic fur texture and for the contrast of light and shadow as well as achieving subtle tones.
