Drawings on paper
Signed on the front.
This beautiful tree recently had to be cut down - would have been at least eighty years old. I had looked at it many times over the years promising myself to draw / paint it, but it took the critical crunch time for me to finally do something about it. The drawing was done over several afternoons while there was golden sunshine flooding over the tree.
For a subject like this, with lovely shapes and texture, I generally use rough Archers watercolour paper - gives a nice broken line which conveys the textured feeling. The pen and colour [ Windsor & Newton Artist quality paint ] that I use are both permanent materials. However, any work, be it oils, pastels, or watercolour should never be hung in strong light - will fade. So make sure to place the item where the light is sufficient to best show the work.
