'Home' may not be where you live, hang your hat (or shoes) but simply where they understand you. So perhaps, they become your family, even if you are different. Location was in Hosiers Lane, Melbourne. I had been visiting Melbourne from Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, Queensland where I was living at the time. I knew and loved visiting Melbourne city, especially the laneways and Hosiers is a very well known one especially for the fabulous, ever changing street art there. You can see in the background, high up, one of Adnat's paintings of an Indigenous child, who I represented here in a very vague manner (no disrespect intended). The shoe line was new and I loved it so decided to paint it with the buildings backdrop and an artist's touch of my own being the pink thongs to represent myself from Qld! I've often felt like the family's 'one out' or black sheep so I guess it's my expression of that as well....:0)
This is a diptych each canvas is 77x53cm so 154cm long.
HIGHLY COMMENDED @ Kenilworth Art Festival 2017
