These large boulders on the beach at Magnetic Island looked like mother and child figures to me. I enjoyed the contrast of the blue sky and birds flying high above and the rounded shapes of the rocks.

I always travel with a sketch book to record moments glimpsed . Later I can use the sketchs + my imagination to create a larger painting. Here I am influenced by the strong north Queensland light and the blue sky that seemed to be reflecting on the rocks on the beach at Magnetic Island off Townsville.
