Description

Kakadu is in the Northern Territory of Australia. The climate is monsoonal and so there are two seasons, the wet and the dry. The landscape colours during the dry, dusty earth colours give way to a rich variety of greens during the wet.. In either season the early morning or late evening brings these colours in a variety of tonal values. In the dry season water is scarce. Following a seasonal ‘wet’, rock pools are formed and help sustain animal and bird life until the high temperatures of a long dry, evaporate the precious water. It is a country of vast horizons and mans’ footprint is seemingly small in the vastness. The horizon is timeless. To stand in this country is too feel small, awed by the stretch of the horizon and depth of sky. This painting will remind you of a vast landscape beyond the imprint of man.
