Long Road Home is an abstract homage to the area where I grew up as a child. Surrounded by beaches and rivers, the presence of water was always in my consciousness. There were days when family and or friends would pack up the car and drive to the waters edge for lunch, games, swimming... fun. As a small kid, it felt like a big adventure and a long journey.
This abstract painting is a reflection or interpretation of my memory of the journeys between suburbs that we would take going to the water, and then coming home again.
The canvas itself is a medium sized 100cm X 80cm. I've used layers of texture and high-quality artist paints to achieve the aquatic feel, and more colourful detail to indicate the roads and suburbs.
The painting has been finished off with several layers of gloss coat, for protection, and to really enhance the colour palette. It has been signed and is ready to hang
