Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Monolith is a Franz Kline inspired artwork with a minimalist design, and a complex construct. Monolith was imagined as I was passing a large construction site. That image included massive steel structural elements, which were the foundation of a new multi-storey building. In creating Monolith, I first painted the core structure and then set about deconstructing the artwork so that it bears little resemblance to the original idea. That was the plan, and I'm really happy with where the painting has landed.
I have continued painting the canvas over the sides so the painting can be hung with or without a frame.
Monolith has been finished with several coats of matte finish, which really suits this style.
Monolith would make a bold statement in your home or office.
