This piece was created as a study for a large commission. My client's wishes were quite specific. I made a series of drawings then three painted studies to explore the quite traditional still life set up he required. I hadn't painted this kind of set up of flowers, vessels and fruit since I was a student so although a challenge I really enjoyed it. I love studies as they allow you a freedom and spontaneity while you warm up for a large finished and formal piece
