This artwork was inspired by a day trip to Ferny Creek, Mount Dandenong. This gorgeous bouquet of white king protea caught my attention. Two giant king proteas stand tall in a white porcelain vase, feels like time has frozen on the spot, quiet and sacred. <br> The king protea is the most popular variety, having one of the largest flower heads in the Protea family. Protea cynaroides, also known as Protea King White. White Protea stands for Purity, Honesty, and Integrity. <br> Protea flowers - native to Australia and South Africa, symbolized Strength, Courage, and Love. Therefore, there’s a saying that protea makes a great gift for someone who's about to embark on an exciting life experience or transformation. I am especially in love with the story behind the name: In Greek legend, proteas were named after Proteus, the son of Poseidon. A sea god who had the power to know all things past, present, and future. <br> The flower always blooms in its own time without competing with other flowers. May we all bloom in our time in the best season. In order to capture the details in this artwork, it actually took me several months to re-reconnect to myself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. <br> I absolutely enjoy painting those photo-real flowers, sometimes I even have dreams full of beautiful, delicate flower petals after a long day in the studio, which is totally worth it. <br> I always want to deliver an important message in my floral series - Now is the very best time to be alive.
