Artwork Description

Mixed Media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This painting was inspired by the concept of global warming. In particular when I saw various satellite images of hurricanes, typhoons and other elements of extreme weather, much of which is a definite result of global warming. For me, there is a lot of connection between the theoretical and abstract art. I find the more and more I focus on a topic, then the more abstract the painting becomes. I find myself going through three stages when I produce art, the first is when I draw and paint images that I come across in my daily life. The second is when I still use representational image but they become more mythologized. The third and final step is when it goes completely abstract. It then goes through the cycle again. However this is not to say the third stage (or any stage) is better than the others, it’s merely different. The process of creating a successful painting depends upon a wide range of factors of which not all can be predicted.
