'Embrace', 2021, is a combination of multiple images to convey my narrative. I have combined portraiture and landscape imagery to express emotion and share a story of identity. The imagery chosen represents a part of my narrative; mountains are used as a symbol of strength and stillness, with the ocean bringing out qualities of the rough but beautiful journey. I have incorporated many images of the sky and representations of barriers which I have put up as a level of protection while entirely vulnerable, in the calming embrace of the fog. The blue and orange colours work together by pulling the viewer in to explore the narrative filled canvas. The use of these colours was utilised to express my story's emotions; blue hues can be seen as a representation of sadness while simultaneously representing emotions of freedom, depth and trust. The orange sun in the sky has been used to describe the sun; I have employed imagery of the sun to symbolise a level of hope and triumph within the pictorial diary entry. The layers of landscape and portraiture have been used to express emotions such as freedom and the overcoming of fear, subsequently sharing my narrative within the imagery.
