I never tire of painting the beautiful native Protea.
The title refers to my recently adopted practise of occasionally reusing/reviving/ recycling existing canvases and working over the top of an exisiting, original artwork (which for various reasons is an experimental artwork; unsold artwork; unfinished artwork etc). By reusing the canvas and painting a fresh new artwork over the top, a magical depth and layering is achieved by allowing the pre-existing artwork to breathe colourful textures through to the new painting.
The composition is a joyful result of unexpected, surprising colours, shapes and spontaneity.
The traditional still life pose of the Protea stands tall with strength and poise. One of my favourite challenges is to capture the gentle gesture of the leaves.
This beautifully feminine, blushing floral bouquet on a stretched round canvas is ready to hang with or without a frame - or could be re mounted to create a square format should you prefer.
The beautiful intricacies and rich palette of this artwork will create a lovely focal point within your room
