Talk about 'Flower Power'!
The vibrant Corymbia Ficifolia is a stunning Australian flowering gum tree found in mainly the southern states of Australia. I just adore its many phases as it bursts into profuse showy blooms during the warmer months. The teardrop shaped unopened buds 'blush' until they burst into a brave and showy spectacle, covering suburban gardens and streetscapes. They are hard not to miss!
So many delicate details and soft contrasting textures - yet the colour is nothing but bold and brave.
I just love the challenge of capturing the details and unique character of our Australian native favourites.
I try to capture subtle nuances of tone and light to describe the form and colour within my paintings, by using generous, confident marks and adequate volume of paint. Sometimes in layers or in more immediate strokes.
This painting is great way to bring the outside in - with a Bang! and is complimented by a beautiful natural oak frame
