This original painting and concept was an entry in to the Fed Art Prize 2019, held in Corowa NSW on the Murray River border of Victoria. In 1868 Corowa was one of the most important border districts in Australia, and infact the site of several important conferences in the 1890s' leading the the federation of various colonies.
I incorporated my love of Australian Gum leaves into my entry:
"Exploring Corowa's historical role in our Federation, I feel a sense of 'the ordinary - becoming the extraordinary' My artwork represents the common people, landing upon Australian soil. Our States are represented by their adopted colours. The dimensions of our National Flag, incorporating the stars of the Southern Cross constellation.
The painting is framed in a beautiful ash grey floating frame.
