This painting recently won 'Best Oil' - at the Bass Coast Artist Society, Easter Art Show!
The beautiful Coastal Banksia (Banksia Integrifolia) is a favourite amongst artists - including me! I'm constantly inspired by the interesting leaves and flowers found in the Australian bush. This species is prevalent along much of the southern coast of Australia and is a beauty with or without is 'flower' as these dried pods left on the stems, crack open to release their seeds and regerminate. this one was captured at Inverloch, my favourite place to be on the Bass Coast, South East of Victoria. I loved finding and interpreting the myriad of colours in the foreground and background.
