In this gentle painting the colours subtly reflect nature and are inspired by mini-worlds discovered in rock pools, on shorelines with a touch of geology in the formations and varied colours as seen in cliff faces and rocks. The shapes I have used and their arrangement are intended to form visual intrigue and create delight in the viewer.
‘Aqueous Bloom Rock-Pool Musings II’ continues in my fascination with the minutiae of life and belongs to my ‘Bio Bloom’ & ‘Aquatic’ Series’ inspired by microscopic other worlds and aquatic wonderlands.
I am deeply inspired by nature, especially the oceans, and the forces that shape it. All the amazing tiny fragments of the universe and natures patterns. Cellular forms, molecules, skins, body forms, minuscule plant growth and of course I can never escape the Oceans pull on me. I grew up in and by the sea. Biological organisms, magnificent corals, seaweeds, algae, shell forms and all manner of sea creatures from my memories of Snorkelling and rock-pooling around my local beaches. All these things I think about and make connections with when I am creating these paintings. Ultimately it is about our sense of awe and wonder at these miraculous building blocks of life.
What I really enjoy most about my paintings are that they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls intrigue, beauty and a talking point for years to come.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jacquelyn Stephens is a Melbourne based artist who has been successfully exhibiting her paintings for over 20 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts. She has gained an extensive knowledge of Art, quality art materials, techniques and theory from working closely within the arts industries and in her own art practice. Jacquelyn works full time from her studio on the Melbourne fringe. She has had several successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. Her paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide. Many of the key themes in her work have been informed by her interest in water, nature, science, the environment and the domain of medicine.
