This is an original, one off, colourful abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.
I have reduced the price of this painting due to the effect of Corona Virus on the world economy and my income. I am hoping it helps some buyers to beautify their homes in this current situation and be able to support a sole trader - artist (that's me), at the same time.
Prices will return to normal when the world does.
The gentle flow of water, invisible under currents, drifts, ebbs and flows. Water from above. Water from below the surface. I find these things beautiful and soothing just like creating art.
It is such fun painting with these colours. So full of life and joy and they give me that summer feeling. The jewel like ultra-marine blue, aqua and yellow with touches of green, earthy browns and rich blacks creates contrast and a gentle shimmer cross the surface. A peak at the ocean from above or something otherworldly beneath the microscope lens. Incoming tides. Floods and deluges. A lovely reminder of the continuous flows and drifts in the waters of life.
Water as a subject, context and formal element seems to often find its way back into my artwork. It reveals my passionate love of the sea and all things briny particularly the influence of the locale where I grew up - overlooking Bass Strait from a hilltop farm at Flinders. The constant movement of water. The life giving nature and power of water with the fragility of waters of life. The storms above and below the surface. The colour formations reflected across the water. Powerful under currents, drifts, ebbs and flows. Craggy rock formations, stalagmites, cliff faces. Patterns on a microscopic and macroscopic scale. I find all these things inspiring, meditative and worthy of contemplation.
What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls finesse and a splash colour for years to come.

A little more about the painting if you want:
Originally this painting series was inspired by a Leonardo daVinci drawing, 'The Deluge' to which I have been obsessed with and been moved by for years. I admit my painting is not terribly much akin to the beautiful daVinci except in the idea of the flow, the ideas of the outpouring of energies and the raw forces of Nature. The fluidity of the paint naturally lends itself to the pour, the flow, the wash, and the cascade, the soaking. What I am making these paintings I am thinking about ideas of water, the sea, land immersion, climate change and the ocean from above. Water washing away the dirt of life, the cleansing, nurturing growth and renewal. But also rising sea levels and land washing away. Water giving and taking away. To me the end result talks of ice melts, sea drifts, ebbs and flows, the land and the ocean in a continuous love tussle. But there is also a tranquillity to the flowing water, invisible under currents, drifts, ebbs and flows. I find these things beautiful and soothing just like creating art.
