Artwork Description

This painting sits somewhere between my 'Dots & Little Things' series around 1997-2004 and my ‘Aqua Vitae’ paintings about wine from a molecular microscopic perspective to macroscopic scale. It was painted in 2015 and shows both these inspirations and aspirations.

I am unashamedly attracted to the notion of a series on ‘the life giving waters’ or ‘Aqua Vitae’. Birth. Growth. Spring. Bud. Bloom. Surge. Overflow and Overgrow. Life in abundance. Regeneration. Green Earth. Crisp Sunlight. Happiness. Love. Forgiveness. Life-giving. Enrichment. And Life Energy.

The 'Dots & Little Things' series was about exploring various forms of communication and where I really put print media under the microscope. Essentially it was the beginning of my fascination with all things microscopic and minuscule worlds. The paintings became these crazy clusters of rhythmic vibrating spots and dots somewhat like what I imagine are pulsating through space all the time with the transmitting of information through the 21st century ether like molecules and atoms made real. This series is as much about seeing as it is about the process of making as well as the infinite visual possibilities contained within imperceptible things.

The influence of the wine as subject came about from a commission I was asked to do about this poetic grape nectar. The process and history of wine making not only have a strong connection with painting and art history, but they relate in so many wonderful ways, colour, joy, enrichment to name a few. Both very much to do with providing multiple levels of sensual experiences and enriching the spirit.

My paintings are inspired by microscopic other worlds. Particle physics, pulsating atoms, cell growth, minuscule amoebas and of course I can never escape the otherworldliness of underwater sea life. I grew up in and by the sea at Flinders. Ultimately the paintings are about our sense of awe and wonder at these miraculous building blocks of life.

Jacquelyn is a Melbourne based artist who has been successfully exhibiting her paintings for over 20 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the Victorian College of the Arts. Over the years she has had several successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. Her paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide.

These small canvases look gorgeous on their own, intimate and sweet. But if you have more space and can hang a few together they make a spectacular Gallery Wall.

All paintings are varnished with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.
Ready to hang with picture wire.
FRAMING IS NICE BUT NOT NECESSARY as the edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a neutral grey to compliment the painting. If you would like framing please email me to discuss what we can do.
