Pinot Gris anyone?
Welcome the 'Aqua Vitae' Series.

***************
I have reduced the price of this painting due to the effect of Corona Virus on the world economy and my income. I am hoping it helps some buyers to beautify their homes in this current situation and be able to support a sole trader - artist (that's me), at the same time.
Prices will return to normal when the world does.

The series is inspired by wine and the 'waters of life' or 'Aqua Vitae'. The influence of wine as subject came about from a commission I was asked to do about this poetic grape nectar. The process and history of wine making not only have a strong connection with painting and art history, but they relate in so many wonderful ways, colour, joy, enrichment to name a few. Both very much to do with providing multiple levels of sensual experiences and enriching the spirit. In this series the wine varietals came into their own. The rich colours and layers upon layer of process and history and of sensual enjoyment. Just like art.

Hence, I was unashamedly attracted to the notion of a series on ‘the life giving waters’ or ‘Aqua Vitae’.
This painting was about the white wine varietals, especially the grassy crispness of a Pinot Gris. Here I was looking at all the colours of the terroir and production. From soil to sunlight, oak barrels, fermentation process and even the colours of the lees. All the different stages the wine shifts through on its way to the glass. Then the deep fruity hues and rich notes on tasting. All the multiple layers of method, history and enjoyment contained in the glass and then on the canvas.

Such a joy to look into the beautiful characteristics of say a resiling or Pinot Gris. The subtle fresh notes on the palette and on the eye. The quiet generosity and undertones. And then looking into the glass from above, the jewel of light coming through the colour, the wave of the swirl. I could go on forever about the richness of these experiences and the layers of history, but the pleasure is in the painting and the glass. Ultimately I wanted the paintings having an inner vibration, a sense of movement, energy, life for those looking at them.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls some colour and delight.

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.
The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 3.5cm deep out from your wall.
The edges are cleaned, staple free and left as raw linen to compliment earthiness of this painting.
Ready to put on your wall with hanging wire on back.
Painting is signed and titled verso.
