Artwork Description

This series of free standing screens has been very exciting for me as it encompasses my three dimensional direction with once again stretched canvas. All the screens are different in configuration this one "Resurrection" is a two panel consisting of four canvases piano hinged and decorated with gold metal leaf frame. . The medium is mixed. Acrylic. Shellac. Metal leaf. Marbling. Sharpie pen. Lacquer. Application of bonded rolled paper adhered to the surface gives a "parchment" look and undulating aspect to the centre surface.

Now a BIG note. The actual size of this work OPENED up is 140cmW x190cm H . Packing size is smaller

The composition is decorative, expressionist. I use stretched canvas and a variety of materials. I now cut stained glass or coloured glass , glass jewels into the canvas. I use a variety of metal leaf, silver, gold and bronze. The face of the canvas is a relief with folded paper to add to the dimensional aspect. The image of the female subject is peering into her mirror. The mirror is a cut glass oval and the figure is painted in reverse.
