I was working on another blue painting and part of my technique for it involved removing some of the paint by pressing paper over and then peeled off. I noticed quite quickly that the scrap paper was actually in some ways nicer than the paint left behind. I switched to quality paper and continued. Over the Moon was created using these painted papers collaged onto a wood panel. The textures and layering using this technique has helped create a painting that is like a dip in the ocean in the morning, watching a summer afternoon storm, and looking at the Milky Way at night. Evocative of the Australian summer, each time I look at it I see something different. That’s why I love abstract art. It can mean anything to anyone.
