When cicadas sing was inspired by a page in my sketchbook. I draw and paint in my sketchbook daily as part of my studio practice. These sketches are often quite different to my paintings but over time have influenced my painting. This large painting in mustard and black and white was painted while I listened to the cicadas sing outside my studio. The summer heat and thoughts of holidays were buzzing in my head also. All this combined to bring me to make a very bold painting with deep layering and subtle textures.
This painting has a bonus art surprise on the back. Only the buyer will ever see it!
