This idyllic view is from the hilltop village of San Gimignano in Tuscany. San Gimignano is an ancient hilltop town south west of Florence. It is encircled by walls and famous for its medieval architecture and its 14 towers. It was originally an Etruscan village and was named after the bishop of Modena, San Gimignano, who apparently saved the city from Attila the Hun.
