The surface for this Art work is vintage fabrics on canvas. This allowed me to hand stitch beading, fabrics and attachments.

My interest in fashion design and the use of recycled fabrics, especially those of a vintage nature has led me to produce a series of textile works hand stitched and beaded. Elsa Schiaparelli was rival to Coco Chanel during the early 1900s. Elsa collaborated with leading artists such as Dali and Cocteau and produced outlandish designs indicating her interest in Surrealism. My response whilst stitching this portrait was to use fabrics from my personal collection dating back to the 1950s.
