Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

I have long held a fascination for the moon and it’s many phases. The harvest moon is so called because it rises early and shines it’s light upon the fields assisting farmers as they toil to bring in the harvested crops.

This image shows the bottom of the pond where the water is dark and murky . Sometimes our life is like this but we emerge to the beautiful light. Olive groves, Van Gogh, France, landscape, brooding colours, Olive green, expressionism, Impressionism. Signifying death of a genius. This is a textiles portrait of Coco Chanel using vintage fabrics, hand beading, and a vintage pearl necklace which I won in a competition in the 80s.Elsa Schiaparelli was an Italian fashion designer, working in Paris during the Two World Wars. Her greatest rival was Coco Chanel. Elsa is regarded as one of the most prominent designers of her time. She was influenced by the Surrealist Movement and was influenced by Dali, Man Ray and Cocteau. Some of her gowns even had representations of their art stitched onto them such as a quirky lobster. Her favourite colour was hot pink.
