Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Painted on stretched canvas with high quality paints and is unframed
This painting came about when an artist friend brought into my studio blue antique soda fountain and an antique pewter jug. The soda fountain seemed a challenge due to its exotic colour and sat on my shelf of still life props in my studio for some weeks.
I finally plucked up the nerve to set up a subject and using turquise/ green piece of silk to make an interesting background with shimmering falls and folds.
Without being the main focus point of the work the soda fountain adds hight and a transparent surface. The small pewter jug sits quietly in the background providing contrast with the patina on it's metallic surface.
The silk cloth falls with a graceful embrace as it curves around the subject shimmering with light adding a sense of luxury.
Painted in a traditional tonal style this painting reflects a bygone era of grace and beauty and will sit comfortably in both modern or classic setting with enduring dignity and allure.
