This image of gum trees on the banks of a river has been woven with strips of patterned post consumer recycled paper treated with a gloss varnish for a pretty and subtle shimmer. These highly patterned works explore the way we physically view our environment and the idea that not everyone sees things in the same way.

About Jennifer Bell's work
The dominance of pattern in Bell’s practice is attributed to her experience of an uncommon neuro-ophthalmological condition. The artists’s visual field is filled with patterned dots characterised by movement.⁠ While it may not be a visual experience shared by many, our surroundings are full of man-made and naturally occurring patterns. Bell’s work points us towards such beauty of the ordinary.⁠
