Artwork Description

Reproduction Print on canvas

As we entered the Barrington Tops National Park I noticed a yellow traffic sign with a black riderless horse striding across it. Now what horses would be in a National park? Brumbies of course! I kept a sharp lookout. We camped overnight- no sign of brumbies. We got up early in the mountain mists and stopped at Pol Blue Creek, and there under a huge gum tree by the side of the road was fresh steaming horse dung!- they had camped for the night not far from us! I followed their hoof-prints down to the creek and saw where they had crossed it, but they had disappeared into the clouds. It was November, and time for foals to be at foot, so this is how I have imagined them.
