Acrylic on canvas, ready to hang.

I’ve always loved blue flowers especially agapanthus as that particular shade of blue is my most favourite colour. That shade of blue is often referred to as ‘periwinkle’.
I’ve lived most of my life in Melbourne and these plants are profuse in summer often lining driveways up to grand Victorian houses in and around Camberwell and Hawthorn. I feel a wave of nostalgia now whenever I see them on my visits south from the Sunshine Coast. They were always a reminder to me that summer was on its way as they start blooming in November . Lovely memories are conjured up as I see the beautiful soft blue buds blooming in the gardens especially down the Mornington Peninsula where my childhood summers were mostly spent. I believe they are considered a weed on that coast as they have become so prolific and are now not allowed to be planted by local councils!
I think this painting would be a striking piece in an entrance foyer or in a room with black or dark grey furnishings. It would also suit a dark study or perhaps a conference room that is dull and monotone.
